Eclipse Season Pick-a-Card Reading

Eclipse Season Pick-a-Card Reading

Hello! Choose the deck (or plan) that stands out most to you. Trust your intuition. If none jump out to you, it could be that the messages herein don't apply to you at this particular time. No biggie, I'll be doing lots of these readings. (Links to decks are at the bottom.)

Pile 1: hydrangea flower

Death + Surrender

Considering the energy of the next few weeks with the eclipse (and Chiron's prominence), to pull these cards isn't that unusual. It's a time for the final emotional purge, an ending, and with an ending comes a new beginning. And it happens to line up well with the start of the astrological year.

I didn't take the Death card to be literal here. This card is more about change, ascension, progression. Many of us fear change, but it's really one of the few constants in our lives. That's where the next card comes in.

When you feel the ego or the anxiety rise up to try to force things to be a certain way, find a way to release the underlying fear, as it's fear that motivates so much of the ego's need to control. It's not easy, it takes practice to learn to go with the flow. (That isn't to say going with the flow means you won't be emotional, as many of us are during eclipse season. Don't fight it.)

Surrender to the fact that external circumstances are often out of your control, and in demonstrating this internal control, the universe will open up new opportunities to co-create with it the terms of your existence.

Remember, change isn't always a negative. Sometimes that which has died has never served us in the first place, and we make space for something better to come into our lives.

Pile 2: bayberry leaf

Leadership + Abundance

The Leadership card comes up when Spirit wants you to take a more starring role in the production, instead of auditioning for supporting cast again. For a lot of people this will apply to work/career. Ponder how you can step up and be a mentor or thought leader. In what ways can you help others navigate life on this Earth? How can you emulate the bright, guiding light of the North Star?

The universe loves to reward those who put a spotlight on themselves in order to help others, especially if doing so is out of your comfort zone. Abundance can come in many forms, so this card reminds you to stay open to receive. Practice gratitude for all the good that's coming to you.

Pile 3: moss

Thistle + Angel's Trumpet

Thistle represents protection, but there's also a nobility to him. He fights with integrity. He's like Faramir. He wields his sword not for its sharpness but for its ability to defend. Right now is a time for asserting yourself, especially to those who abuse their authority. Channel the quiet strength of the thistle.

Angel's Trumpet, for the shape of its flower, is associated with receiving messages and hearing truths. What truth have you been stubbornly refusing to hear? We tend to do that when we don't want to face a situation, or when we don't want to have to change our own behavior. Like pile 1, there's a feeling of fearing change. There are those who will put up with the same awful situation for years because the devil we know is easier to handle than the one we don't. Now is not a time for letting the fear of the unknown dictate your choices.

With these two cards together I get the sense that a situation you've been avoiding may come to a head soon. Spirit is urging you to stand your ground to those who would bully you. This card, with the familial graves, also reminds us that we can call on our ancestors for help.

You can also call on Archangel Michael when you're afraid or in a tense situation. (You don't have to be Christian or follow their dogmas to receive his help. I'm quite the opposite and he's been there for me.) He brings not only protection but also justice.

The art on these cards is so badass and detailed I have to include some closer shots.

Pile 4: larkspur flower

Tranquility + Passion

I'm not one that's good at sitting still, in dead silence, even though it's certainly good for me. I like always having background noise. But I keep seeing people say it's in that silence and stillness that your best ideas come.

The first card, Tranquility, is about having your own little corner carved out that's 100% your space, somewhere for you to unwind. If you have a big family or lots of roommates, that's not always easy to do. Time to clear out some of the clutter around and find little ways to make your space more relaxing. And then take some quiet time for yourself. Four of swords energy.

Now is also a good time to start a new hobby or passion project, or pick one back up you abandoned a while back. Creativity is high for everyone right now and you can tap into that energy. The best hobby or practice would be one you could incorporate into your routine on a regular basis, even if it's only for a few minutes at a time. It's good for your brain health, too. Let the freshness of spring inspire and rejuvenate you.

The pink and green colors of the flowers point to the heart chakra. Doing these things would absolutely be a form of self-love, and remember that self-care is productive and it isn't selfish.
